Maryam Farahmandzadeh

I am a graduate student at the University of California at Santa Cruz, majoring in Electrical engineering. After four years of experience in the industry as an electrical engineer, I am back to academia. My research area spans the domain of medical imaging modalities with a focus on positron emission tomography and x-ray imagers. I simulate, fabricate, and characterize novel radiation detection devices for health and environmental science applications.

Ricardo Hernandez

My name is Ricardo Hernandez, a senior at UCSC majoring in Electrical Engineering. I like to be involved in my stem community by being involved in clubs such as Amatuer Radio Club, and tutor for course CSE-100.

Andy (Myunggeun) Kang

My name is Andy (Myunggeun) Kang. I am a senior studying Computer Engineering. I am excited to meet and build good relationships with others through HKN. My technical interests are in Digital Design, FPGA programming, and embedded systems. During my free time, I like to go to the gym/run or catch up on current movies!

Calvin Keyes

I am a second-year student majoring in Computer Engineering with a minor in Computer Science. I am interested in logic design and computer security. In my free time, I enjoy playing basketball and hanging out on the beach.

Linda Luu

I’m a 5th-year Computer Engineering student with a focus in robotics. I currently reside as the UCSC IEEE 3D printing officer and a member of Kresge Parliament. My specialize in hardware including CAD modeling, 3D printing, and fabrication. I’m passionate about using robotics and machine learning to further advance agricultural technology in order to help efficiently produce food while preserving the earth at the same time. My hobbies include hiking and making miniature structures out of wooden sticks.

Jack Lin

I am a master student at UCSC, majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering. My interest includes FPGA design, embedded system, and signal processing. Recently, I am doing with the FPGA and circuit portion of radiation detector design.

Ergin Maldonadoop

My name is Ergin Maldonado. I’m on my third year currently studying electrical engineering. I’m also a first generation chicano student born in Guatemala. I look forward to work in renewable energy development and infrustaction after graduation.

Seth Murdoch

I am a 31 year old transfer student from the Sacramento area and will be attending UCSC one more year for computer engineering. I have yet to determine the discipline I wish to pursue after college, perhaps something along the lines of embedded systems and microcontrollers.

Christopher Magat

I am a 5th year Electrical Engineering student with interests in radio frequency circuitry and integrated circuit layout and design. I have been tutoring upper division Electrical and Computer engineering courses for three years and I am passionate about teaching others.

Drew Peebler

I’m a 4th year engineering student currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a minor in computer engineering. I am interested in hardware engineering, as well as optics and photonics. After graduation, I aim to begin working in the industry while simultaneously working towards earning a master’s degree.

Angela Rodriguez

My name is Angela Rodriguez. I am a fifth-year studying Computer Engineering with a minor in Electrical Engineering. My interests are in digital hardware, FPGAs, and embedded systems. I have had the opportunity to tutor a couple of courses here at UCSC, such as Analog Electronics and Signals and Systems. In my free time, I like to explore the upper campus or go to the beach to watch the surfers. I want to pursue a Master’s degree after working in the industry for a couple of years to see what are my interests.

Nicholas Van Oss

I am a 4th-year Electrical Engineering student looking to work in industry after graduating this year. On campus I research biodetection platforms employing microfluidic channels and play viola in the university orchestra. As a senior design project, my team is propelling a mini boat with acoustic waves. My hobbies include photography, hiking, skiing, and aquarium keeping.

Shiloh Sojourner Sacks

I am studying Electrical Engineering because I am very passionate about using technology to create a more sustainable and healthy future. My academic interests include radio frequency design, antenna design, nuclear medicine, power electronics, and solar technology. I am currently working on a PET Scan detector simulation.

Yuli Wang

I am interested in medical devices and molecular imaging technologies with a particular interest in novel detector development, GATE simulation and machine learning for algorithm development in medical imaging. I am working on a CZT system.

Peng Zhou

I am a graduate student majoring in ECE. My fields are neuromorphic computing and spiking neural networks. I was the solidarity officer in the Graduate Student Association and I enjoy gathering people together. My hobbies include playing basketball, ukulele, Chinese calligraphy and others.
